    I have had the privilege of being your Trustee for the past four years, thank-you. I attend Holy Redeemer and assist with Sacramental Preparation (First Communion and Confirmation), member of the CWL and have attended Bible study. As a Trustee I continue to focus on policy and initiatives to assist our most vulnerable children (SEAC & Policy committees) and overseeing budget and business practices of the Board (member of Audit committee) so equity can happen.     About Me:

    Kevin Sawyer campaigns on improving diversity in Catholic leadership, increased mental health programs and reducing the use of portables. Kevin’s children attend OCSB schools in Kanata making him empathetic to a successful school experience. After obtaining a Bachelor of Theology from Saint Paul University, Kevin worked in full-time Federal prison Chaplaincy for 15 years with the Correctional Service of Canada. Kevin also obtained law degrees from McGill University developing an interest in policy among other areas of law. He is an advocate for diversity. He is fluently bilingual and appreciates different cultures and backgrounds. His Catholic sense of a global community has helped him see the importance of helping others. Kevin coach’s basketball. He also volunteers with his wife at Holy Redeemer in various ministries and is active on the executive council for the Knights of Columbus. Kevin believes that Christian faith in action necessitates involvement in the greater community! More

    I am presently a teacher at Heritage Academy( for students with Dyslexia and other language based exceptionalities) and my daughter attends a Catholic High School here in Nepean. As a Trustee I plan to maximize efficiencies, ensure fair access to educational opportunities for children from all backgrounds and develop a plan for the evolving role of technology in our schools. I am a Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ), an international congregation serving in 42 countries of the world and whose service in the church is education.     With 40 years experience in education, Cindy Desclouds-Simpson seeks the position of Trustee with the Ottawa Catholic School Board. As a Catholic teacher for 21 years, a Catholic Principal for 13 years and the Executive Director of Youville Centre (a non-profit accredited mental health centre, accredited high school and a child development centre for adolescent mothers and their children) for six years, Cindy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in Catholic instruction/community, curriculum, special education and child and youth mental health to this position. She has proven leadership, communication, managerial, financial and public accountability acumen. Participation in community networks and committees such as United Way Ottawa, the Child and Youth Mental Health Network of Ottawa, and the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Steering Committee of Ottawa, have given Cindy an informed glimpse into the challenges faced by many children and youth in the Ottawa area. With a proven career commitment to children and youth, it is not surprising that Cindy’s campaign slogan “Make all children and youth count” demonstrates her commitment to all children and youth, despite race, gender identification, ethnicity, socio-economic status, academic, social or personal challenges, receiving equitable access to Catholic education curriculum and resources so that all might have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
