2018 Election

My name is Cindy Reasbeck, and I am a candidate for Trustee for District School Board Ontario North East – Hearst and Kapuskasing.

I attended Kapuskasing District High School (KDHS) as did both …my children, who are now educators. My daughter is a teacher at KDHS and my son is part of the hockey academic program (PowerPlay Hockey).

I have worked for the past seventeen years with twenty-four Community Futures Development Corporations to develop a culture of entrepreneurship in the youth of Northern Ontario. Head Start In Business introduces the concept of entrepreneurship as a viable career option to young people from four to thirty-four.

My career has offered me the opportunity to work with many young people, and I am motivated by the current mission and vision of the board. I believe in innovation, in engaging the community in learning, and most of all, in empowering young learners.

My work has allowed me to network with many passionate educators, parents and students. I took part in the focus group, resulting in the new strategic direction of the board, and I truly believe in the three priorities. Equity- Culture - Innovation.

I plan to approach this position with a willingness to learn, whether establishing policy direction, responding to parental concerns or communicating with the constituency. I will treat every action with the utmost respect and integrity and ensure that students remain the focus.
