Kim DOUGHERTYÉlu(e)À propos de moi :
Hello my name is Kim Dougherty and I'm running for school board trustee.
I'm a proud mother of two. Both of my kids have attended or currently attend school in the English public board in Arnprior. …I'm also a graduate of Arnprior District High School. After high school, I attended Carleton University and graduated with a BA in Law. I have worked for many years as a counsellor and advocate with at-risk children/youth in group homes, youth shelters and in foster care. Since moving back to Arnprior, to be close to family, I became a stay at home mom. I have volunteered locally for various youth serving organizations including as a member of Arnprior Figure Skating Club Executive and in the classroom and library at area schools. I'm looking to have an active roll in the schools, as a trustee, and will listen to and address the concerns of teachers, staff, parents and students in the schools I represent. I believe my career of advocating for at-risk children/youth will give me a unique perspective as trustee and help in my roll in bringing concerns of the community to the board. Plus -
Karin HAELSSIGÀ propos de moi :
Exactly 30 years ago, I came to this beautiful country with my husband and three young children and made my new, and forever, home on a large rural property near Burnstown. Over the next decade, we raised …our children, ran a small business, and worked on our small farm. I earned degrees from Carleton University and Queen's University, and, as the children grew older, I decided to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. I attended the University of Ottawa and completed my Bachelor of Education which I supplemented with additional qualifications in French as a Second Language, Special Education and Primary Division. I was fortunate to teach Core French at both McNab P.S. and A.J. Charbonneau P.S. until I retired in 2017.
Our children are now grown, and I enjoy spending time with our three grandchildren who have inspired me to run for trustee. I would like to share with you my goals and priorities for continued excellence in public education so you can make an informed decision when you vote for your English Public RCDSB Trustee:
- I will be a voice and an advocate for the students and the community as a whole and will listen to their concerns
- I will represent the entire community
- I believe in equity and inclusion
- I will seek to understand the issues coming before the School Board and spend the time necessary to be, or become, well informed before working towards a solution
- I will work, with my fellow Board members, towards student growth and academic achievement and improvement while being fiscally responsible
- I want the students in our Board to have the best possible education
- I believe that every student can succeed, in his or her own way, and that schools have a responsibility and a duty to give all students a sense of accomplishment that is not just measured in grades, letters and numbers
- I want all students, and their families, to have a sense of safety, security and belonging when they come to school.
Please allow me to work for your children and your family and vote for me on October 24th, 2022. Plus
