    About Me:

I am Eeyou and Inninew Cree and a band member of Fort Albany First Nation and a clan council member of MoCreebec Eeyoud in Moose Factory. I am a resident of Moosonee, Associate Vice President – Culture, Healing and Wellbeing at Weeneebayko Area Health Authority and a PhD Candidate at York University in Education since 2016 within the Language, Culture and Teaching degree program. I am also a board member of Keewaytinok Native Legal Services in Moosonee and currently a candidate nominated for Chief of MoCreebec Eeyoud.

    My Commitments to the Community:

My commitments to community and education are longstanding and I remain passionate towards supporting community needs, higher learning and engagement. Since 1993, I have worked in community development and administration in James Bay supporting the advancement of Cree communities. Having worked within health policy and the post secondary education sectors over the years, I have taught, designed and delivered Indigenous-focused and decolonizing curriculum at a number of universities including Algoma, York and Brock University as well as at Toronto Metropolitan University as an Assistant Professor (2020-2021) in the School of Child and Youth Care and a Faculty Lecturer within the School of Continuing Studies at McGill University during the 2019-2020 academic year.

    Vision

I want to see our students excel and be presented with opportunities towards learning and achievement. I seek to work with educators and be an advocate for an inclusive learning environment that is fair where our kids can excel holistically. It means us getting to where we need to go and supporting each other in that direction and process as parents, educators, advocates and the broader community.
