    About Me:

My 30 years of Trustee experience (four as Chair of the Board) on the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board have helped me to develop into a highly effective voice representing Wards 1 and 3. My experience also provides me a unique perspective on how to make our school board even better. My interest is to continue to serve our community as your Trustee. Some key points: I strongly believe in Catholic Education and will continue protecting it for the future. This includes both the provincial and local levels. As Chair of the Board and former Director (on the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association), I have the perspective to fight for the support of Catholic Education., Children are first! Our CHILDREN MUST HAVE THE BEST EDUCATION to meet future challenges. This also includes providing the best in 21st century learning using technology. We expect our children to contribute to the community in which they live., There must be a strong religious and educational relationship between Church, Home and School. Parents/Guardians are the first teachers of their children., EQAO results for Grades 3 and 6 (reading, writing mathematics) have matched/exceeded provincial scores for six consecutive years. Grade 9 mathematics and Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) results have matched/exceeded provincial averages for five consecutive years. Parents/Guardians, family and friends can be proud of their children’s achievements., I have and will continue to be PROACTIVE in meeting with the Minister of Education and the Finance Minister to provide fair and equal funding to deliver superior education to our students. This would include funding for Special Education, curriculum and upgrading schools. This year we received $11 million dollars for our wards., There must be discipline in the schools. I will not accept bullying of students (in school or cyber-bullying)., I will continue to be visible in our schools, by attending school councils, school events and graduations., I will continue to promote and build on our Eco School Certified program., I will continue to look for ways to minimize the decline in enrolment in our wards. This includes looking at unique programming and options for elementary and secondary schools. During the past 30 years, I have had the honour and pleasure of meeting many parents/guardians at school councils, school events, at elementary and high school graduations and at church. I also met with taxpayers in their home. It is important to listen to concerns and suggestions. It assists me in making decisions at School Board meetings. I share your education-related concerns. I continue to support and believe in Catholic Education. I use my business experience to ensure that students receive the best education with a Christ Centered approach while maximizing our education tax dollars. Our budget must continue to be transparent. Thank you for your past support. I look forward to continue to serve you and to further build on my 30 years of experience in education. I respectfully ask for your support on October 27. More
